Fifty Years, Thousands of Lives: The Power of One Partnership

In an interview on Let’s Talk TriState, Heather Guessford, President and CEO of United Way of Washington County, and Tom Kline, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County, reflected on their remarkable 50-year partnership. Tom Kline remarked how Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County has been in operation in Hagerstown since 1956 and has worked with United Way of Washington County since the beginning. He stated, “We rely heavily on that partnership each year.” Their conversation highlighted the power of collaboration, and the lasting impact these two nonprofits have made in the community.
Throughout the interview, Guessford and Kline discussed how their partnership began, and the shared mission of supporting local children and families that has kept them working together for five decades. From mentoring programs to educational initiatives, the two organizations have joined forces on numerous projects that strengthen the community.

They encouraged community members to get involved, they are already serving a large amount of kids, however, they share that there are always more.
