The mission of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce is to foster and maintain a thriving
business climate in which its members and community can grow and prosper. Established in 1919, the chamber works to protect the investment that you have made in your business. Each year during the annual 90-day Maryland General Assembly Session, the chamber monitors legislation impacting businesses and non-profits. We strongly advocate for a free-market economy, and fight for the interests and welfare of our business community. Along with community partners, we work to bring a fair share of our taxes back to Washington County to invest in the growth and prosperity of our local towns and municipalities. We offer an array of networking opportunities to help you get connected and succeed. Our annual events highlight all areas of our community; from honoring local first responders and educators to inviting our local elected officials to share updates, we are focused on supporting Washington County, and our successes and growth, all while keeping you informed.
As of January 2024, we started a new program called Chamber YOU, designed to foster success in the
business and non-profit world. Guest speakers discuss various topics throughout each quarter, with four focus areas including Personal and Professional Development, Human Resources, Finance, and
Marketing.
Seminars are geared towards anyone at any level, including business owners, non-profit leaders, managers, and employees. We provide this program because we believe that quality learning
opportunities are vital to business and non-profit development. In addition, Hagerstown Community College is offering CEU (Continuing Education Unit) credits for each of these courses. Looking ahead to the fall of 2024, we are hosting a fundraiser for our Chamber Foundation, which will support the WCPS Youth Apprenticeship Maryland Program. Funds will assist Washington County businesses with the costs associated with the program. The date is November 9th from 3 – 10 pm at the Washington County
Agricultural Education Center. Attendees can spend the evening enjoying music and participating in raffles for student-created items and fun activities, including trivia and cornhole. A buffet dinner will be provided by WCPS culinary students, and their food truck will also be at the event. Washington County Chamber of Commerce members include more than 650 organizations, representing over 40,000
local jobs in a wide variety of industries: Retail, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Skilled Trades, Service and Hospitality, Technology, Government, Non-profit, and Education. Visit Hagerstown.org or call
