Educate – Train – Defend
In today’s world, where self-reliance and personal safety are paramount, the Arsenal of Angels stands out as a beacon of empowerment for women. This local group is dedicated to fostering a supportive community where women can learn, practice, and excel in shooting sports, all while building confidence and camaraderie.
The Arsenal of Angels is a vibrant network of women who gather monthly to enhance their shooting skills and deepen their understanding of issues that are particularly important to female shooters. The mission is clear: to provide a welcoming environment where women can learn safe gun handling, engage in effective training, and grow together as a community. According to Renee Brennan, original member since 2021, the purpose of the group is “to help women be independent with their firearm journey. It starts with safety, education, and repetition.”
Since its inception in April 2021, the group is rapidly growing. “We’re going on year four now. We started in April of ’21 with 35 ladies. We now have 260 ladies in the group. We meet each month to go over various topics for shooting,” said Christina Price, another original member of the group. Regular meetings are designed to accommodate a variety of schedules. Arsenal of Angels meets on the second Sunday of every month from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the North American Rod and Gun Club (12108 Belvedere Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742). This well-equipped facility provides an ideal setting for learning and practicing shooting skills. For those who prefer an evening option, they now offer a second meeting each month on Wednesday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. These sessions are perfect for both beginners and seasoned shooters who wish to refine their skills and connect with like-minded women.
Becoming a member of the Arsenal of Angels is both affordable and rewarding. The annual membership is priced at just $75, providing you with full access to all monthly meetings, training sessions, and special events. They also offer a junior membership for those under 21 at a reduced rate of $40. This ensures that younger women have the opportunity to start their journey in shooting sports with the guidance and support of experienced mentors.
The Arsenal of Angels is more than just a shooting group; it’s a community of empowered women who support each other in their pursuit of safety, skill, and self-confidence. Christina Price also explains that the camaraderie and support goes beyond the shooting range: “I think the thing that I am most proud of about this group is that we also give back to the community. I think that my favorite event is our Christmas event. We adopt families from CASA, and the ladies shop for the families. We have a potluck and wrap the gifts to donate back to the families. I love that the most because we get to give back to ladies that are not as lucky as us.”
