Greencastle Gathers: Celebrating Old Home Week 2025

Article Written By Rylie Gordon

Every three years,
Greencastle and Antrim township come alive with a cherished tradition, Old Home Week. From August 2–9, 2025, the town will host its 42nd Triennial Old Home Week, a beloved celebration tracing its roots to 1902. This annual homecoming invites past residents to reconnect, honoring shared heritage while forging new memories.

The weeklong festivities are diverse and inclusive. Attendees can join guided tours exploring local landmarks, attend reunions, and take in concerts, competitive sports like pickleball and baseball, and family-friendly entertainment. Highlights include the time-honored Old Timers Baseball Game, the spirited “Fun” Dog Show with creative categories like “Best Vocalist” and “Owner/Dog Look-Alike,” the elegant Flower Show titled “Blooms of Legacy” in memory of Dolly Shoemaker, and the inspirational Pageant with live choir performances.
Music plays a central role: community worship services on Sunday, August 3, at 4:00 pm and 6:45 pm will feature an adult choir, orchestra, and creative arts under director Dave Besecker.

In the spirit of honoring shared heritage every three years, Old Home Week features a new landmark on its program cover. For the 42nd Triennial Old Home Week, they’ve featured Carl’s Drug Store, which was founded in 1825 by Adam Carl. As the oldest continuously operated drug store in the U.S., Carl’s Drug Store is a symbol of local history and trusted care.
Supporting and organizing these events are dedicated volunteers, local leaders, and community partners like the borough, township, police, and fire departments. Official headquarters are at Life Center Church (35 N. Carlisle St.), where visitors can pick up badges and program booklets for a suggested $6 donation.

From nostalgic reunions to creative pageantry, Old Home Week is a celebration of community spirit and local pride. Whether you’re a lifelong resident or a returning friend, August 2–9 promises a heartfelt welcome, truly, a homecoming to remember.
